Weekly Offerings:
Wednesday 2:15pm-3:45pm

Sienna Ranch SEED Social Groups are specifically designed for children with special needs who are looking for a unique opportunity to participate in age-appropriate activities, hands-on learning, animal interaction, hiking, group games and social reciprocity activities at our 21 acre Ranch in the hills of Lafayette. We always strive to find innovative, fun and effective ways to tie in all of our lessons to life on the Ranch. The Social Groups aim to leave all students with a positive association with each other, the Ranch, our animals and our environment.

NOTE ON AIDES: Sienna Ranch asks that if your student has a 1:1 behavioral aide that they attend together (extra support in this outdoor classroom sets students up for success!). We do not allow parent/guardians as aides.

NOTE: For the SEED Social group class you will register for pre-waitlist on the system. We will then reach out to you about your registration. If you are new to Sienna Ranch or new to the SEED class we will set up a tour for you to come see the ranch and make sure the program is the right fit for your child. After the tour we will put through the final registration and collect a deposit or full payment.

Private Lessons

Private Riding Lessons Age 6+

Private Riding Lessons

Registration for Sessions will open a month before the session. Session 1 Lessons will open in August.

The Sienna Ranch Equine Program has a mission to inspire the youth to be responsible and educated equestrians. We aim to give kids a well-rounded knowledge of overall horse care and a solid foundation of equestrian skills. By the end of the program, participants will have an understanding of horses’ natural environmental ecosystems with a focus on their biological instincts as well as the many roles they have played, and continue to play, in our society. Our goal is to give students the foundation they need to further their journey as budding equestrians.

About our Lessons: Lessons will be in the Round Pen and are best for beginners or nervous riders. Private Riding Lessons will have 45 minutes of riding time, during which the student will learn how to communicate with horses using Natural Horsemanship riding styles. The rider will also be taught proper posture and steering techniques using English riding equipment. The remaining time of the lesson will be dedicated to learning about horse care, including learning how to properly tack up and untack the horse, the different methods for feeding and housing horses, as well as other general horse knowledge that will help set a solid foundation for their equine education. The lessons cost $85 per class and come in packages based on the session.

Riding Program For First Time Sienna Ranch Riders (regardless of other barn experience):

Students new to private riding lessons will start with a non-riding horsemanship assessment lesson. Even if your student has ridden horses on vacation, at home, or at another barn it is important that we establish safety rules that allow students to build confidence and deep connection with our horses. In the introductory assessment lesson our riding instructors will go over the foundational elements of horse safety, behavior and tools so that your student can confidently transition into the saddle in a safe and holistic way. Students must be able to complete the prerequisite riding skills listed below before transitioning to a riding lesson. Once in the Sienna Ranch program, riders may continue to register for riding lessons without repeating the horsemanship fundamentals assessment. If your student is unable to complete the prerequisite riding skills in the first lesson we will continue the lesson package as ground lessons until they are able to complete the skills and transition to riding.

Prerequisite Riding Skills:

  1. Follow verbal directions
  2. Maintain quiet bodies and calm voices in horse zone
  3. Gently groom and interact with the horse
  4. Wear appropriate safety attire (boots, helmet, etc)
  5. Feel comfortable working on the ground with the horse (ex: grooming, leading, tacking, etc)
  6. Hold reins and mount and dismount on one of our horses.

NOTE about Neurodiversity: Sienna Ranch is not a certified adaptive or therapeutic riding center. If you have a neuro-diverse child and are wondering if our riding program would be a good fit please feel free to reach out to our office.

NOTE about Parents: Sienna Ranch aims to provide a space for students to interact independently in our programs without parents, as such we do not allow parents to watch the lessons. All lessons are one- to- one lessons so if you have multiple siblings who want to participate in lessons you will need to sign up for more lesson slots. It is one lesson per child. We will not be allowing any double siblings in one lesson going forward.
