RANCH HANDS

Sienna Ranch’s Volunteer Program for Youth

Sunday mornings 9:00am-12:00pm

Ranch Hands gives youth, ages 10 to 16,  an opportunity to experience the satisfaction and learning which comes from working on a small, family-owned ranch.  Under the supervision of Sienna Ranch’s Animal Care and Education Coordinator, Savannah Beauregard, Ranch Hands will engage in weekly tasks such as:
  • Pen mucking
  • Hay moving
  • Fence mending
  • Animal exams
  • Occasional routine animal maintenance
  • Animal behavior observations
  • Special projects
Is Ranch Hands right for you??

For the twelve-week session consider yourself a rancher; rain or shine your animals need care.  In the animal care business, there is no such thing as a lazy day; expect to work hard and get dirty.  Working with animals on a ranch is not a light-weight job.  If you are prepared to work hard, get a bit dirty and work as part of an awesome team... Apply to Ranch Hands!
  • Rain or Shine... at least an hour of your day will consist of mucking
  • Participation is mandatory... don’t let your fellow Ranch Hands do all the work
  • Tardiness is not OK... are you allowed to be late to school or work? I don’t think so.
  • Attendance is mandatory... two sick days or vacation days with PRIOR NOTICE through email or phone (attendance will be taken every Sunday, your attendance could affect your acceptance into later RH sessions)
Requirements:
  • Age 10-16 (at the time of the working interview, Day 1)
  • Application
  • Working interview (Day 1)
  • Must be available for duration of session (excluding holiday weekends)
  • Does not mind getting dirty
  • Hard worker (no slackers please!)
  • Takes direction well (follows the Ranch Hands Rules)
  • Team player!
RANCH HAND RULES:

2. KEEP GATES CLOSED
-DO NOT enter any animal pens without permission
-Always shut gates if you are the last to go through
    -Never keep open gates unattended
3. NO FEEDING
