Horse Experience

For ages 7+

Spend 2 hours each week immersed in the horse world at Sienna Ranch. At our small ranch, your child will have an opportunity to become intimately familiar with each of our horses. Each morning will begin with routine horse care including pen cleaning, grooming, and feeding.  Through this process of caring and giving, bonds will be formed and confidence will be gained.

Special visits by vets and farriers will be scheduled during horse experience classes in order to give participants a “behind the scenes” understanding of the special needs of their equestrian friends.

The anatomy of the horse will be shown with horse drawing lessons given by former Pixar artist, Robin Cooper. Working with horses on the ground will be taught, including leading the horse on a line, turning horses out to the paddocks, and retrieving them from the fields.

Horse behavior and mannerisms, the ins and outs of horse equipment, and horse handling and safety will all be touched on throughout the day.  Finally, the last 3 classes of the session introduce riding starting with Vaulting.

This traditional form of riding instruction gives horse lovers a chance to get on the back of their favorite animal for a fun and exciting ride, which increases balance and concentration.

Next, learn the basics of getting your horse to go where you want it to.  The last class will end with a demonstration for parents and an opportunity for kids to show what they have learned.
