Sienna Ranch is embarking upon the EcoRanch Project – a comprehensive plan to transform the ranch into a sustainability demonstration site. Utilizing the principles of permaculture, an ecological design system, the EcoRanch Project will restore the environmental integrity of our 21-acres of grassland and oak woodland and create a productive, abundant, and resilient ecosystem for our children and future generations. We will be restoring native vegetation, growing local food, planting a food forest orchard stystem, harvesting and recycling rainwater, and building with natural and local materials. As with all of our programs, the focus of the EcoRanch Project is education. We will be weaving sustainability in to all of our curriculum, and children will have an opportunity to learn many skills through the implementation of sustainable building, food, and water systems. In addition, we are launching a new series of adult sustainability workshops to share practical, hands-on skills that will empower families to live more sustainably in their own backyards.
