Archery Classes and Camps

Our classes begin by teaching a neutral style of archery which introduces students to a solid shooting form for recurve or compound bows, developed by the nation’s top archers. Students progress through a series of different targets, beginning with a 60 cm scoring target specifically designed for our program. Sienna Ranch Archery classes are taught by trained and certified teachers.  Thus, they have the necessary skills to ensure the students learn the sport of archery and have fun while maintaining the highest standards of safety.

Each week, students are encouraged to focus on a specific aspect of their shooting form, while reviewing skills learned in past classes.   After gaining a basic level of proficiency and safety, archers have an opportunity to participate in Sienna Ranch’s archery patch program where archers score their ends to earn archery patches.  This is optional for those students who enjoy the challenge of scoring.  Scoring rounds are conducted at 20 yards.  After mastery is achieved at 20 yards, students move their targets to 25 yards and begin the scoring program over again.  The minimum age for archery classes is  years, and adults are encouraged to participate as well.   Class is appropriate for beginners and returning archers looking for an opportunity for extra instruction and practice.  With a fully covered shooting line, classes will be held rain or shine!

Based on feedback from our students, all classes are now 90 minutes.  This allows for an increase in shooting practice time as well as an opportunity to learn equipment care and maintenance.

Note for new archers:  New students must schedule one private lesson OR attend one of the Archery Try-it Days in order to register for a class.  Since the first time picking up a bow is the most difficult, the teacher will need to spend a lot of time assisting brand new archers and this introduction can not be done in the group class time.   See below for more information.

Children have FUN doing archery.  Additionally, archery has proven to increase attention, self-confidence, self-control, listening skills, and ability to follow directions.

Archery is a sport where children can experience complete acceptance, feel safe, and receive reward and recognition.  Archery is not only a life-long skill, but a wholesome activity which can be enjoyed by anyone.   Many families are discovering archery as a quality way to spend time together.
